Jardinette is a beautiful restaurant with more than 100 years history offering traditional Hungarian dishes being ideal for business and family lunches or dinners.Jardinette is an excellent venue for various events in the green part of Budapest. In addition to doing our best to give high-standard service to our à la carte guests, we provide an excellent venue for company and family events and celebrations. A total of 130 persons can be seated indoors. The atmospheric, more than 100-year-old stone building seats 50 guests and the glass winter garden seats 80 persons. Jardinette is no ordinary event venue. It took its name, which means ‘little garden’, from its beautiful chestnut tree garden, where a further 70 guests can be seated, who can enjoy the natural scenery from spring to autumn.
This restaurant is in Buda side, good parking, not far from Buda centre. Excellent garden and inside two nice rooms, Good service and kitchen. Fish meals are famous! This small restaurant is convenient for the families with small children in summer time. There is a small playground for the kids.

Bajai Halászcsárda is a nice, old style restaurant on the Szabadság hill on the way up the top of the hill. A typical place where our grandparents went out for a good Sunday lunch in the past. Best to take the cog railway from Városmajor. It is a large building with a huge garden area. Waiters are polite, food, especially the fish ones, which is their specialities, are excellent. The staff is charming and very well trained.
Búsuló Juhász Restaurant
A mix of Hungarian and international dishes, great selection of wines, professional staff. Choose sitting outside if weather permits, although the view is spectacular even from inside. Fine dining at the Citadella.
“This is one of the best buffet values I have ever experienced. We went for dinner and it was very busy and somewhat more expensive but still a very nice experience. What I’d recommend, is going there for a weekday lunch. This all comes with free champagne, beer, wine, lemonade, and soft drinks.
The food is high quality, fresh, and plentiful. The pumpkin soup is particularly good but they have around 5 different soups for dinner. They have a great selection of salads and breads and then you start tackling the many hot dishes from lamb stew to veal ribs, tripe stew, stuffed cabbage, goulash, and other Hungarian delicacies. Then you can move to the other side of the room for the extensive grill-to-order selection that includes various meats, fish, shrimp, vegetables, etc.
You get all this and more for what you’d pay for a lunch or dinner at an average restaurant in that part of Budapest.”

“Elegant charm and fabulous food”
“This was the most beautiful dining experience ever. The dining room is exquisite and the ambience so redolent of old world charm. If you want to impress a loved one with a romantic dinner then this is the place to do it. The accompanying live music added to the whole experience. The service and food was divine. I had chicken and my husband had pork (ample portions, don’t order a starter unless you have a big appetite). This was an evening like a step back in time and I just loved it! Could hardly concentrate on the food for trying to take in the whole experience from the beautiful decor to the live music to the immaculate service. The house red wine was recommended by our waiter and was just lovely. Finished the meal off with a shared walnut and orange crepe for pudding. Do not miss out on this amazing dining experience!”
“Cosy typical hungarian, but also very touristic. The food is good and plenty and the prices are very fair. It can get crowded, even during the week, so it is best to make a reservation”
“If you want to have a great lunch or dinner in a traditional ambiance and hungarian food, it’s the place to visit. They serve big portions of great food. What they say it’s a plate for 2 people we easily had for 3-4 people :). The staff speaks English and they are very friendly and helpful. You can also pay with credit card, which is helpful. ”
Carmel Kosher Restaurant
“I am an Israeli from Haifa and I can truly say that even in Haifa it is troublesome to find such a great restaurant. It is Prestigious, fancy and the food is more than tasty , the service was great it is a gourmet restaurant highly recommended. We ate there twice during our three day visit in Budapest. I ordered the stuffed cabbage and my husband ordered Goulash we really enjoyed”
“I highly recommend this restaurant, even if you don’t only eat kosher. Portions are large and very tasty. I found it to be a nice quite place for a good meal after a long day”
“Pesti Disznó” Bistro
“We were seeking an authentic Hungarian restaurant among the western and Chinese options available. This restuart was great and served up one of the best meals of the trip, plus great beer. The sausage stew was flavorful.”
“First class, fresh ingredients. Seasonal deals. Warmth and casual atmosphere.”
The „Apostolok Restaurant and Bar” is situated in the heart of the city centre in Budapest, downstairs of 4-6 Kigyo street. The pub was founded by János Förster in 1902, titled it to Apostles. The pub was firstly rebuilt in 1913 and after a hundred years, in 2013 – beside the halls under protection of historic buildings – it was enlarged with two new halls, which combined the character of the last and present ages. This restaurant is a curiosity with its great past. Our guests can enjoy the real traditional Hungarian and modern international dishes among old-style walls or the refreshing drinks in our bar.
First of all, let us explain something. What exactly is ‘vakvarju’?
A crunchy edged flatbread from the oven, with goodies on top of it combined into a delicious bite.We know its kind very well as we make the best of it in town. So we got our name from it, calling ourselves Vakvarju, with a capital V. Right in the middle of it there is the Hungarian tradition and the taste of home. All around it there are the crunchy fresh novelties. The staff of an accommodating restaurant is at your disposal. It is good to have you here, come and take a seat!
The Gerlóczy Restaurant
“This restaurant is attached to the Gerloczy Rooms de Lux. The location is excellent and easy to locate. As soon as you enter you are welcomed in a warm manner. The menu is very good and the service is excellent. There is an attached patio that is probably very well utilized on sunny days. This restaurant is highly recommended”
“We had a lovely lunch here, service was charming and efficient and the food was excellent. Friday is “Fish day”, although there was also a good selection of alternatives for those who don’t care for fish. I had salmon fillet, served on a bed of pickled cabbage and carrot. It was delicious and perfectly cooked. Beautiful desserts, even though we were pretty full we managed to order some!”
Lugas Restaurant with garden
“A very hospitable restaurant lying in the middle of Budapest just beside the Stephen Basilique so if you have the opportunity to sit outside the view is great. The menucard contains Hungarian and more “western” dishes, the variety is abundant. The service is quick and to the point and the prices are very reasonable. We loved to eat here”
This restaurant is in a lovely spot next to the river and next to the little princess statue. The waiters were all lovely and very friendly. The food wasn’t delicious but wasn’t bad either. Not the best goulash I’ve had in Budapest. Their desserts were really good though. There was a cake that is supposedly great grandma made!
Sunny Dinner Restaurant
“In the end we eat in this twice in three days. It’s definitely not hungarian cuisine but retro american diner with tasty delicious food. We had different burgers and burritos and all I can recommend. The staff is nice and if you will be lucky real pin-up girl will waiting you. “

The “100 years old”restaurant is the oldest restaurant in Budapest. It has opened in the hearth of the city in 1831, at the ground floor of a baroque palace. Zsákbamacska (Cat in the Sack ) Restaurant
The Restaurant “Zsákbamacska” (Cat in the Sack) is a charming family and traditional restaurant in the downtown of Budapest (close to the Oktogon Square and the Andrássy Avenue), where you can have gastronomic experiences.
It is family restaurant, with home recipes, very nice to try traditional Hungarian dishes”
“This is worth its Michelin star – nice atmosphere, delicious tasting menu and excellent matching Hungarian wines (in particular the dry Tokahi and second, bold red).
We had 5/6 dishes (seared tuna, parsnip soup with scallop, beef, etc) and matching wines, cooked finely with different textures and full flavours. Nice fresh bread as well and attentive service.
Only downside is the price – international standards (I come from London and am therefore used to expensive restaurants as the norm) compared to other places in Hungary, but that is to be expected with a Michelin star restaurant.”
“Excellent and innovative, real value for money. A full dinner with wine costs about half of any other Michelin starred restaurants I know. Easy to find, close those many downtown attractions.”
“This restaurant is an absolute treat. Some of the best food in Budapest, wonderful presentation, great service and lovely relaxed atmosphere. The wine was so delicious too!!”
“There are many restaurants on Raday street but they are generally simply mediocre and target tourists mostly. Soul Restaurant is on the other hand a genuinely good place to eat. I would recommend Sourcherry soup (superb!) and beef cheek. Desert are sadly not very good”
Szent Jupát Restaurant
Sir Lancelot Restaurant
“A great atmosphere restaurant close at the city centre. The Knights on the inside and the decoration is very impressive, the portions of the food was really big however I didn’t like the side dishes of the dishes that much! “
“If you want to spend an evening to the Hungarian cuisine , this is a very good choice! Big portion and good food . Slightly expensive but a good experience ! Hungarian live music and show!”
I warmly welcome you to this “story-telling” old house, where, at the beginning of the century, the hard-working and hospitable Kéhli family opened its small restaurant. They ran the eatery with such care and love that mother Kéhli’s name became famous within her lifetime.
The Restaurant Kéhli, surrounded by some similarly old houses, retains an atmospheric little island oasis of the past among the monotonous rows of modern cubical houses. Thanks to the former well-known regular guest, Gyula Krúdy, the great Hungarian writer, it survived annihilation and is still open.
“We’re were lucky enough to be staying in a hotel just fives minutes from the Kehli restaurant. It was such a surprise that this residential area could have such a good restaurant . The food is very typical Hungarian as are the furnishings. A band played good old folk songs and interacted with the diners. Very good value.”
